First celebrated on August 19, 2009, following the attack on the United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad on August 19, 2003, this day aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Pay tribute to humanitarian workers who risk and give their lives to help others in crises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Raise public awareness of humanitarian needs around the world and the importance of humanitarian aid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Mobilize public and government support for affected people, including persons with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The theme changes every year, but the goal remains the same: “Celebrate humanitarians and defend their protection.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For this 2026 edition, persons with disabilities in g\u00e9n\u00e9ral and visilually in particular gathered under the Inclusive Society for Persons with Disabilities Platform and the Nationale Association of Blind, took part alongside several hundred other actors in the sports walk held on the streets of the Cameroonian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To the rhythm of local and international music, and under the technical supervision of sports instructors and United Nations system officials, the Inclusive Society for Persons with Disabilities Platform demonstrated that humanitarian action has no physical status, color, social status, gender, or nationality. It is everyone’s concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Activities continue this Sunday, August 16 at PLAYCE, located at Warda Junction, with an exhibition and a large visit by the humanitarian community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
